Foods That Go With Our Sauvignon Blancs

Sauvignon Blanc, almost more than any other grape variety, has the ability to wrap itself around flavors from many cuisines. Its inherent clean acidity acts to cleanse the palate and set you up for the next bite. In our California Sauvignon Blanc this crisp acidity is nicely balanced by tropical fruit flavors such as pineapple and mango. New Zealand is known for Sauvignon Blanc's that push the envelope in terms of bright acidity and tangy, citrus flavors like lemon, lime and grapefruit and our Marlborough version is no exception.



Sauvignon Republic Cellars wine paired with John Ash recipe Mussels Baked with Asian PestoA good clue for dishes to serve these wines with are any in which you'd enjoy a squeeze of lemon or lime on such as "raw bar" favorites like oysters on the half shell or sashimi. Sauvignon Blanc is also a delcious contrast to grilled fishes, poultry and vegetables such as peppers, eggplant and mushrooms. It's a perfect dance partner for tangy cheeses such as fresh goat cheese served either alone or as part of a dish. We love simple dishes like goat cheese raviolis dressed with a peppery olive oil, good salt (like Maldon's) and chopped fresh herbs with these wines.

Mediterranean antipasto or small plate dishes which combine many flavors like salty olives, dried meats such as serrano ham or prosciutto, tangy cheeses like marinated feta and the like are also where these wines shine. Our Sauvignon Blancs are also appealing with the wide range of curries from many cuisines including Indian, South East Asian and even "jerk" preparations from the Caribbean since the acidity brightens and cleans the palate with each bit and sip.
